See Pictures of My Bestfriend and Me in the 1970s and 1980s - Wed, 16 Mar 2011

I've used a couple of old photos of me and my bestfriend taken in the mid 1970s and mid 1980s to illustrate this lens about a special day. I found it harder to write than most of my pages but I hope the difficulties I had don't come through too loud and clear! I really do think a women's friendship day is a good idea because my female friends are important to me.

More Lemon Recipes - Thu, 22 Jul 2010

I've really got a taste for lemons right now so here are more recipes for them. This time they are for Lemon Drinks or Lemonade as I usually call them. There's nothing to beat homemade lemonade, in my opinion. It's so easy to make that it's hardly more trouble than buying a packet of powder or crystals to make it. The difference is that you are getting the goodness from fresh fruit. It really is a lovely, refreshing summer drink.

My Latest Recipes for Lemons - Wed, 21 Jul 2010

This Glazed Lemon Cake is what I describe as an 'everyday cake'. By that I mean it's quick and easy to make and it doesn't use expensive or difficult to find ingredients. What I love about this cake is the intense taste of lemon but not in a lip puckering way. Because of the sugar in the cake and the syrup in the glaze, there is enough sweetness to subdue the lemony sourness. If you try this recipe, I hope you enjoy making the cake and eating it.<...

I've Used This Lemon Curd Recipe for 30 Years - Thu, 15 Jul 2010

The reason I've used this recipe dozens of times is because lemon curd, a lovely dessert spread, is always delicious and loved by everyone who tastes it. Because of that, I thought I should share it.It's quite quick and easy, much easier and quicker to make than jams, jellies or marmalades. The beauty of lemon curd is that it only needs to thicken. It doesn't have to set like jam does. That takes the worry out of making it.You can eat it spread on...

Review of Prize Winning Novel, Wolf Hall - Sat, 26 Jun 2010

Although Wolf Hall has had mixed reviews that almost put me off reading it, I loved it. In fact, I like it so much I was determined to review it and share it with others.Yes, it is a long novel and the writing style takes a bit of getting used to. However, the style isn't intrusive and off-putting as is the style used in some experimental novels. I knew very little about the 'hero' Thomas Cromwell, advisor to Henry VIII, only what I vaguely remembered from school. Hilary Mantel has made him a su...
