Does your child have learning difficulties but no one knows why? #squi - Fri, 28 Jan 2011
We were lucky, or perhaps it was just our dogged determination not to accept the diagnosis that Lizzie's hearing was normal? We got the answer fairly quickly, but other families are not so lucky..How could such a bright child be struggling at school? Why was it that she was so much later to start talking than her older brother and sisters? And when she did start to talk, why was she misprounouncing words? Why did she seem to ignore you when you spok...

A Purple Star for Lizzie's Lens - Thu, 13 Aug 2009
So honoured to have heard today that a Purple Star has been awarded for this lens. My lovely girl has Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) - getting a diagnosis has made such a difference to her education and her life. 10% of children have APD but not many are diagnosed! The lens is a "must read" for any parent who is worried that their child is not doing well at school but no one can tell them why.

APD affects 1 in 10 - YES one in ten - children. More than dyslexia. However, dyslexia usually gets diagnosed. APD does not.

New modules added - Mon, 06 Oct 2008
New modules added dealing with some of the methods of treating APD together with a link to a centre in New Jersey that uses a specific method of treatment called the Tomatis method.

Also a small module quoting a question on a forum that really stunned me.

Thanks everyone who has visited, rated and favourited this lens. Every visit means that we have more people in the world who have heard about APD and this is very good!
