The Queens Speech at today's State Opening of Parliament - Tue, 25 May 2010
Following the General Election in the UK today saw one of the most colourful of Royal Ceremonies, The Queens' Speech at the State Opening of Parliament.

I have updated my lens to include video footage of the Queens' Speech. There's also an explanation of the role the Queen played during the days following the election when we had a Hung Parliament.

Today the UK wakes up with no idea about who will be running the Country during the next Parliament - there was no clear winner in yesterday's General Election so we have a hung parliament.

What is going to happen?

Will it definitely be either Gordon Brown or David Cameron who will be the next Prime Minister? Actually, no!

Queen Elizabeth's Christmas Day message 2009 - Mon, 28 Dec 2009
I have just added a video of the Christmas Day message from The Queen, which is broadcast each year at 3pm on Christmas Day.

Always dignified and eloquent, often poignant, these messages from Queen Elizabeth are brief (less than 10 minutes) but always retain my interest and usually there is a smile or two. This year it is provided by a Steel Band playing our National Anthem!

Every Christmas Queen Elizabeth II broadcasts a message to the Commonwealth. This year she includes rare footage of Prince Charles as a baby, tributes to service personnel on active duty and their families.

It is also clear that she is a very proud mother and grandmother and that she is very sensitive to the economic problems being suffered around the world.
